mhl-map Manly is one of Sydney's longest and most beautiful ocean beaches. The surfing beach at Manly is about three kilometres long and has three names, North Steyne, South Steyne and Queenscliff. It is an ideal `city escape' for visitors and is a popular tourist destination from overseas visitors to local and interstate. Recreational activities include swimming, surfing, roller blading, scenic and historical walks, scuba diving and fishing. Manly has numerous world class restaurants, cafes, pubs and nightclubs.

Manly Ferry is a "must do" for visitors and makes the 30 minute trip regularly, day and night via the magnificent waterways of Sydney Harbour. The Manly Ferry is still the original and best way to travel, arriving at Manly Wharf - a brand new food and wine oasis at Manly Cove. Sydney Ferries other commuter service is the Manly Jetcat which takes 15 minutes to do the one way trip.

Manly is full of attractions and exciting activities, including Ocean World, featuring Australia's largest collection of marine life. Just behind Oceanworld is Manly Waterworks where kids and adults can enjoy giant slides during the Summer months. The Manly Art Gallery and Musuem is one of the finest regional art galleries in NSW, entertains and informs visitors with a changing programme of exhibitions as well as an important permanent collection of paintings and pottery.

At nearby North Head you can take a journey through history at the intriguing Quarantine Station whilst enjoying spectacular views of Sydney Harbour. Daily tours can be pre booked, with the evening Ghost Tour a must. The North Fort Artillery Museum, also at North Head, has a collection of guns used in the defence of Australia over the past 200 years. Tours of a subterranean network of tunnels allow visitors to experience life in a fortress system.

The Historical and Scenic walks provide an insight into the history of Manly and the surrounding spectacular coastal views and Aboriginal sites.

The Manly to Spit Bridge Walkway is one of the most scenic harbour walking tracks in the world. Encompassing panoramic views of the majestic Sydney Harbour, it contains native bushland which has changed little since the first fleet of British ships arrived in 1788.

The Manly Heritage and Eastern Hill Walks will guide you through the heart of Manly or Eastern Hill and its varied history.

Manly Beach is the gateway to the scenic beauty of the Northern Beaches.
